We’ve been pouring over our naughty/nice list and wanted to share some of our thoughts about gift giving this year.  We know it is the thought that counts, but keeping our list to items below $50 was our goal.

1) TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE

We always say the two things between us and the ground are our tires, so we better take care of them.  A high quality tire pressure gauge can ensure we have just the right amount of air pressure in our tires to maximize longevity and traction.  Your motorcycle rider would love a gauge that may have these features:

  • motorcycle tire gaugeRobust design with heavy-duty shock-absorbing body to withstand severe use
  • Built-in air bleeder valve to reduce pressure in over inflated tires
  • Flexible no-leak air hose
  • 360-Degree Swivel Chuck
  • Large dial face (digital works) for easy reading
  • Certified Accurate to ANSI Grade B40.1

2)  DETAILER’S CLEANING KIT

Riding as hard as we do, a cleaning kit is a necessity for any two-wheeled junkie.  Keeping the motorcycle clean also has a safety benefit as we can spot issues in advance when cleaning the ride.

For the gift giver, you have many choices.  You can buy ready-made kits or make one up on your own.  Meguiar products tend to find their way into our garages, but we recommend any kit includes the following:

  • Maxima SC1 High Gloss Clear Coat SprayBike Wash/Soap
  • Wax
  • Maxima High Gloss SC1 Clear Coat Silicone Spray
  • Engine Degreaser (use carefully!)
  • Cotton Chenille Wash Mitt
  • Terry Towels
  • Microfiber Towels

3)  RIDER TRAINING GIFT CERTIFICATE

rider training gift certificate 25 dollarsC’mon, did you think any list would be complete without a rider training gift certificate?  For a measly $30 you can give a rider a Skills Practice Certificate from our online shopping store (click here).  Want them to choose the course?  We have several options for dollar denominations.

4)  MOTORCYCLE BATTERY CHARGER

motorcycle battery charger tenderSometimes we don’t get a chance to ride as much as we want.  For those “in-between” times we’ll want to keep our battery topped up and ready to go.  A good multi-purpose battery charger can extend the life of a motorcycle battery, ensure proper motorcycle operation, and prevent down time.  There are plenty of options out there, just make to choose one that is right for the motorcycle owner’s battery.

Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries require special attention when charging.  Do not use a charger that has auto-desulfation since it will hurt Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. Overcharging is also an enemy to batteries. The charger you select should have a float mode which prevents the battery from being overcharged.

5)  MEMBERSHIP TO THE AMERICAN MOTORCYCLIST ASSOCIATION (AMA)

There is no motorcycle rights organization that does more for motorcyclists in the United States.  By providing your rider a membership to the AMA, you are providing them a gift that will give non-stop throughout the year.  The benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • American Motorcyclist Association LogoRoad-Side Assistance at no additional charge (saved our butts several times and worth the membership alone!)
  • AMA Motorcyclist Magazine (chock full of awesome motorcycle related articles)
  • Discounts with various motorcycle oriented providers (Enjoy incredible savings on motorcycle parts, accessories, hotel rooms, bike and car rentals)
  • Discounts to various motorcycle events
